Arrest and Plastic Restraint Training - APR™

This training course is based specifically for the private security industry and is certified by "Skills for Security" it has been designed for use by Door Supervisors, Store Detectives, Security Officers, Street/Crime Wardens, Bailiffs, Close Protection Officers, Civilian Court Staff and Event Stewards.

The use of handcuffs is obviously a "use of force" and therefore must be properly justified. Justification is achieved through establishing not only the legal right to use such equipment (ie. when effecting a lawful arrest), but also through good objective grounds for doing so, in order to show that what was done was reasonable and necessary in the circumstances. The use of restraints may have to be justified to the police, the courts and possibly in civil actions.

This professional 13 hour APR™ training course is aimed at teaching candidates how to use plastic restraints effectively, safely and within the strict rule of law. Also included as part of the course and recommended in the PCA "safer restraint" conference 2002 is a 3 hour Emergency Response First Aid qualification conducted by an HSE qualified First Aid Instructor.
